Things aren’t easy, but it’s bound to be fun,
And worth every morning when you’re up with the sun,
Its a long, difficult journey, to find where you’re going
When you are sure you don’t like where the river is flowing,
So pick up your feet and get back on the run.
An invite in a dream, “Empanada Mamma?”
An invite I would accept even from a llama,
Let alone the lovely person who had asked,
But alas it was not her beauty in which I basked,
Merely a dream and I’m in my pajamas.
There are too many things that you’d rather skip,
Stare in the mirror, for a weak-willed frown-flip,
Throw up your hands, I don’t care who sees,
Drop your work, and pick up your keys,
Clearly its time for a mountain Road Trip.
Some lifetimes are true and thick red lipped,
Most vicarious, photos, newspapers clipped,
Lived among the desperate calling Lonely
A life buried stories under if only,
in time we all know what it was that truly slipped
It’s been a cold rainy week, though
Up where you are it’s coming down snow.
A pang in my heart for the wrong time and place.
These are the times when I miss her sweet face,
Victrola dancing and a fire’s warm glow.
Rainy Mornings Never fail to make my day
Through the cold and sting, you make your way,
Its somehow more poetic and more true,
Ducking head and lifted collar, better way to see you,
Than a bright and shining, golden sunny ray.
Little to say most of time, on a bonding kick,
Its nice to know there’s something that sticks
When you don’t see each other all that much,
You have to find deep thoughts, like such,
A grand ‘ole romping super hero Flick!
Do your best to stay Inside and Out of town,
For they’ll rush and shove and push you down,
The season of giving’s just beginning,
Season of the violent, manic grinning,
Taking, shaking, fellow shirking, Black Friday Clown.
To a wintery chill, the rain gives way,
And all your friends you invite to stay,
For supper and some pumpkin pie,
So pour the wine, and pass a thigh,
Have a happy Turkey Day!
All week I’ve been a little sick
And now to sit in endless traffic,
And travel for the Holidays,
I need to drive for yet some ways,
At least I have this goofy limerick.
